Jack Smith may be preparing to indict former U.S. President Trump
About two dozens Mar-A-Lago staffers ranging from restaurant workers to Trump’s close aides have been subpoenaed in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents. The Justice Department says it has enough evidence to charge Trump with obstruction in that case.
As for the January 6th investigation, Jack Smith has subpoenaed officials in all 7 states targeted by Trump allies in 2020 election, as well as former Vice President Mike Pence and Mark Meadows.
Pence testified before a federal grand jury on April 27th regarding Trump’s efforts to illegally remain the U.S. president by overturning the results of the 2020 election.
Smith is thought to be finishing this investigation and preparing to indict Trump on charges that could include obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States and insurrection.
